Size
The body of an adult plaice measures between 40 and 70 centimetres (max.) in length. It can live for up to 45 years, and weighs up to 7 kilograms.
Taste
Plaice meat is juicy, tender and white, and has a strong taste. It is perfect for cooking, roasting, baking, steaming and deep-frying.

Natural habitat
It lives on almost all European coasts – from the White Sea to the Portuguese Atlantic coast, as well as in the North and West Baltic, and in the western Mediterranean.
Life
Plaice lives in shoals around sandy and muddy seabeds at depths of 100 to 200 meters, and up to 400 meters in the Mediterranean. It feels particularly at home in tidal, salty coastal areas.
Food
The plaice usually hunts for food at night and goes on long journeys to look for bristle worms, small crabs, thin-shelled mussels, snails and lugworms.
